Local Worcestershire MPs have now received around 500 letters of opposition to RWE’s proposed solar industrial power station from their own constituents.
This includes our local Redditch MP Rachel Maclean, who has been a great advocate for our campaign.
Recently we received high praise in Westminster from Rachel who was speaking during a debate on large-scale solar farms.
The Redditch MP reiterated her opposition to the scheme saying:
“I have been vocal on the subject, and I have lodged my objections with the planning authority, on the public record and in the press and I do so again.
“Residents have told me that they are wholly supportive of renewable energy from solar power and the ambition of tackling climate change more generally, but they have a number of concerns namely loss of prime agricultural land.”
She stressed the uniqueness of the site where J.R.R. Tolkien “is thought to have taken significant inspiration for his work from our beautiful fields and areas”.
Phil Coathup, Chair of the Roundhill Wood Solar Farm Opposition Group is now asking the other Worcestershire MPs, Harriet Baldwin, Nigel Huddleston and Robin Walker, to step up and be more vocal.
“Rachel’s support has given our campaigners a real boost and we urge our other Worcestershire MPs to help spread the message about the damaging impact caused to the whole area by the construction of a 257-acre solar power station in Roundhill Wood," he said.
